b. 1988. Norwegian-Singaporean artist and printmaker based in Oslo.

Born in Norway to a Norwegian father and a Chinese-Singaporean mother, the current and historical relations between Europe and Asia have become a natural point of departure in my artistic practice. Employing a variety of printmaking techniques such as lithography, etching and mezzotint, I explore questions relating to diaspora, global trade, Orientalism, travel, mapping and the remembering and forgetting of people and places left behind. I am particularly interested in the loss of memory and cultural understanding which occurs between generations as a result of migration, and how personal family histories represent fragments of larger global narratives. My work often refers directly to printed vernacular objects such as studio photographs, family snapshots, ancient maps, book illustrations and charts – imagery that has been disseminated through the graphic industry to serve a practical or mnemonic function. By re-imagining these through contemporary printmaking and layering past, present and future, I seek to create new meanings and connotations, and highlight how cultural misinterpretations and glitches manifest themselves with time - especially visually.
